NATIONAL CONFERENCE 'ISSS-NC5' HELD AT KARPAGAM UNIVERSITY

Institute of Smart Structures and Systems (ISSS), Bangalore and Karpagam University jointly organized the Fifth ISSS National Conference on “MEMS, SMART MATERIALS, STRUCTURES AND SYSTEMS” on 21-22 September 2012 at Karpagam University, Coimbatore.

Dr.K. Natrajan, President-ISSS, welcoming the chief guest and the gatherings.
 Dr.R. Vasanthakumar, Chancellor, Karpagam University presided over the conference and explained the importance of conducting research activities in all the fields of Engineering. 
Chief Guest of the conference, Dr.P. Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor, Amrita University, inaugurated the conference. The chief guest stressed the importance of application oriented research and explained how machines controlled the human life even in communicating with others through mobile. 
Prof. V.K. Aartre, Former Scientific Advisor to Defense Minister, Government of India & Visiting Professor, ECE Department, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, felicitated the gathering. 

ISSS Journal was released by Prof. S.B. Krupanidhi, Professor, IIsc, Bangalore
He appreciated Dr. Hema, Dean-Research, Karpagam University and her team for the support and valuable contribution in compiling the first journal of ISSS.
Dr. Mangalagiri, Ex President - ISSS, spoke about the valuable contributions of ISSS to the field of MEMS, Smart structures and systems.
Dr. G. Karuppusami, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Karpagam University thanked all the guests and participants and appreciated the organizers of the ISSS-NC5 conference.

 There were sessions on Microsystems, Fabrication of Smart Structures, 3A-RF, optics, modeling and Simulation of Micro systems.

INAUGURATION OF DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATIONS

The faculty of Engineering had another jewel added to its crown by Inaugurating all the Department Associations on 3rd September 2012.

The Chief Guest for the Inaugural function was Sri.R. Srinagesh Chief Operating Officer, Eltex Group of Industries, Coimbatore. 

   “A community of voices adds power to prayer”. A team of girls from CSE Department invited God’s presence by singing a Prayer Song.

“Primarily deepam signifies knowledge. All our activities should be governed by the light of knowledge”. The chief guest and all the guest invitees on the Diaz lit the Lamp and inaugurated the Ceremony.

Ms. Bikash Hazarika of 3rd BE CSE welcomed the chief guest and all the guest of Honors for the function.

Dr.P.Lakshmanaperumalsamy, Registrar, Karpagam University felicitated the gathering by sharing his valuable thoughts.

Dr.G.Karrupasami, Dean, Faculty of Engineering said 'Success = Preparation + Opportunities' and he explained the parameters of the equation to students and encouraged them in his Felicitation.

Dr.C.R.Hema, Dean, Research gave us knowledge by her speech.

“A sharp tongue is the only edge tool that grows keener with constant use.” The Chief Guest gave the inaugural address and gifted the students with some valuable information. He stressed the students regarding the 'Effects of Communication' and enlightened the students about the four aspects of Life. He advised to be materialistic in carving ones career. He also added that Students should be innovative and creative with positive attitude.

The guest speaker Mr.Kovai Mahesh entertained the student mass.

“Gratitude is the attitude that takes you to your Altitude”. Last it was the time to express the gratitude to all the dignitaries upon the diaz. Ms. Kirithika of 3rd BE EEE delivered the Vote of Thanks.

Finally the Inaugural ceremony came to an end by Saluting our Nation.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Ms. SOWMYA. S, FINAL BE CIVIL ENGG


Ms.S. Sowmya, Final year BE Civil Engineering student participated and presented a paper entitled “Integrated Remote Sensing and GIS in Ground Water Recharge Investigation and selection of artificial Recharge sites in a Hard Rock Terrain” at National Students Conference 'RACE-2012' held during 24th - 25th of August 2012. 


The conference was organised by Department of Civil Engineering, KL University, Vaddeswaran, Guntur(District), Andhra Pradesh. India. The paper was published in KL University Magazine.

Inauguration of Part time BE programme on 1/Aug/2012 at Aquasub Engineering, Coimbatore

Karpagam University, Coimbatore has come out with a unique and novel scheme of providing higher education to adult learners while working.
Mr. T. Narendran, General Manager – Finance, Aquasub Engineering, welcomed the gathering.
This is a new approach to higher education as opposed to traditional education. The university offers B.E degree course (Part time) to the employees of Aquasub Engineering, Coimbatore.
Dr. R. Vasanthakumar, Chairman, Karpagam Institutions presided over the function.
What is unique is; the course will be conducted at the company’s premises. The employees have the benefit of highly skilled, professional staff conducting classes in their company.
JMD, Aquasub Engineering, offered facilitations.
The highlight of this off-campus program is that the employees do not have to commute long distances for their education. This is suitable for those looking for quality education while working. The laboratory classes and examinations will be conducted at Karpagam University.


This is a well designed course and allows enough time to prepare, allows good guidance to complete the course work like assignments and presentations. This eliminates the fear of the employees that deadline at work would prevent them from course completion.

The inauguration and orientation programme for the first year BE (2012-13)

The inauguration and orientation programme for the first year BE and B.Arch students of Karpagam University was held on 25th July 2012 at 9.30 am.

The Head of the Department of Science and Humanities Dr. P. T. Hemamalini welcomed the gathering.




The Vice Chancellor Dr. K. Ramasamy, in his presidential address, emphasized that Karpagam University takes adequate care of its engineering students in equipping and empowering them to strive well and to shoulder responsibilities in this competitive world to lead a successful life.

The Chief Guest of the day Shri. G.V. Koorse, Chief Regional Manager, Indian Overseas Bank, in his special address focussed on the importance of concentrating on the logistics and fundamentals to excel in the profession. He advised the students to value goals, hard work and time management.


The Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Dr. G. Karuppusami stressed the importance of discipline, punctuality and the determination to inculcate the drive to excel in their field of studies. He introduced all the Department Heads and gave a crystal clear overview of the Engineering course and organization.


The Dean of Architecture, Mr. Mohammed Ali Sharief briefed about the Architecture course for the new comers.


Dr. C. R. Hema, Dean of Engineering Research and Dr. Poduval Sr. Prof. of Mechanical Department gave the felicitation speech which infused motivation.

The programme was honored by the presence of the Chief Advisor of Karpagam Institutions, Shri K. Murugaiah. The Controller of Examinations, Dr. P. Palanivel, The Dean of Physical Education, Dr. Pushparajan and the HODs of all the departments were present in the dais.


The first year students and their parents were present in the function.
