'AEROMODELING WORKSHOP' CONDUCTED BY AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Karpagam University, Coimbatore organized a Two Day ‘Aeromodelling Workshop’ on Radio Controlled Delta Wing Aircraft Modeling during 16th & 17th March 2012 in association with Barola Aero Sports, Chennai.



Dr.J.Chandrasekhar, Professor and Chairperson, Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function. He shared his views on the Aeromodelling Workshop and design of Delta Wing Aircraft in a scaled down working model and its present scenario in the field of Aeronautics.



Dr.K.Ramasamy, Vice Chancellor of the University expressed his views on the development of Aeronautical engineering in the present trends. Dr.P.Lakshmanaperumalsamy, Registrar of the University motivated and appreciated the Students efforts. Dr.G.Karuppusami, DEAN-Faculty of Engineering, Dr.V.Sivakumar, Associate Professor, Amrita University, Prof.R.Sivaprakasam, Head of the Department-Aeronautical, Mr.S.Suresh, Director-Barola Aero Sports, Chennai have also felicitated the function.


The workshop was conducted with Expert Team from Barola Aerosports, Chennai. The Students were divided into different batches and were provided with the necessary materials like Depron Sheet, Brushless Motors, Electronic Speed Controller, etc. for making of the delta wing aircraft.


Every batch of Students worked hard to completed their models of aircraft. The two day hands on training workshop was very practical oriented and interactive, the Students pondered upon the expert team with various questions regarding making of the aircraft model.

The Students designed & fabricated as many as 21 models of Radio Controlled Delta Wing Aircraft and successfully tested and flew them in University Playground using Radio Transmitters. Many aircrafts whizzed in the air and Students showcased their talents in flying their models in the sky.


Upon completion of the event, Certificates were distributed and the Workshop came to a successful end. Kalaignar Television was the Media Partner for the Event. A total of 21 Batch Students from various Institutions have registered and participated with full interest in making their models.

SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS ORGANIZED BY S& H DEPARTMENT

Science Day 2012 was celebrated with usual fervor on 28th & 29th of February 2012. Our Chancellor Dr. R. Vasanthakumar presided over the function. Dr.R. Murugesan, Vice Chancellor, AUT Madurai was the chief guest and Dr.E.B. Perumal Pillai, Registrar, AUT Madurai was the special guest. Dr. G. Karuppusami, Dean, Faculty of Engineering felicitated the gathering.


Various competitions were conducted which had active participation from students community. It served as a platform wherein students exhibited their talents. All the events where framed in such a way that helped students to invest a lot on their potentials and use it in a productive way.





1. EXPOTECH 2012 – WORKING MODEL COMPETITION

Expotech 2012 focused on revolutionary innovations in the field of Science and Technology. Many students displayed their exhibits which focused on the various attributes of Science and Technology.


2.REPLICA

Replica gave a better platform to students to showcase their creativity and aesthetics in form of miniature models. Life on Mars, Important Land Marks in Coimbatore & Global village were the themes given and all the models based on the application and importance of these themes were displayed.


 
3. DOCUMENTARY FILM

Documentary film brought in to light the achievement, contribution and success story of many behind the scenes to the forefront. It portrayed the life of many which appeared synonymous to the theme.


4. POSTER PRESENTATION

Poster presentation laid thrust on various themes like Drug Abuse, Road Safety & First Aid, Preservation of Indian Culture & Tradition and Fast Food Slow Poison. It aimed to create an awareness on the significance and the relevance of the themes in today’s context.



5. ZERO WASTE

Zero Waste stressed on the importance of waste management. Several exhibits based on the theme “Wealth out of Waste” were exhibited which enabled the students to exploit their creativity and talents.



VALEDICTORY FUNCTION


Mrs.Hema Karunakaran IPS Presided over the function and gave away the prizes.

She spoke on women’s empowerment and the awareness that each youngster should have today.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Mr. R. GANGADHARAN & Mr. S. GURUNATHAN OF III BE CIVIL ENGINEERING

Congratulations!!!

Mr. R. Gangadharan and Mr. S. Gurunathan of III BE Civil Engineering won First Prize in 'Multimedia Presentation' at 'CARVE 12' the 6th National Level Technical Symposium held during 7th and 8th Mar 2012 at Sona College of Technology, Salem.



We wish both of them and expect many more prizes and awards in future.
